Light, water, video, and ordinary supplies such as dish soap and plastic bottles, are my current materials of choice.  They highlight my appreciation of the commonplace, allowing me to explore the mystery of the unknown embedded within the everyday.

I'm interested in how little daily tasks, such as cooking dinner, sweeping the floor, painting a picture, walking the dog, etc., change who we are within and affect our relationships.  To study movement and energy, I animate liquids with light, movement, and video, while disorienting footage of people performing daily rituals around the home.

I reflect on how technology intersects our lives and how the pace of society imprints a toll on individuals.  People get less physical activity than in the past, often feeling more alienated.  As we bring more virtual technology and automation into our lives we shed some processes that can be beneficial.  Simple skills essential for children's brain and coordination development, like cursive handwriting, are no longer being taught in most schools.

My current work expresses my fascination with the ability of love to transform us through the acts of caring and being cared for.  Using natural phenomena to represent the energy of human connection that we express through physical engagement with our environment, I transform everyday materials into the fantastic, attempting to capture the dynamic exchange of this connection.  My installations blend interactive machines, kinetic sculpture, videos, and studies of natural phenomena, enticing the viewer to rethink ideas of reuse, toxicity, availability, activity, and beauty.
