CONVERTER 2007

Converter is an installation composed of a reflecting video projection machine and kinetic water sculptures. I have created a projection machine where I show the same video image in two ways. One is unmodified. The other is projected through a piece of pegboard. The holes heighten the color of the image and interrupt its wholeness. Both images are created with only one projector.
My current work expresses my fascination with the ability of love to transform us through the act of caring and being cared for. Using natural phenomena to represent the energy of human connection that we express through physical engagement with our environment, I transform everyday materials into the fantastic, attempting to capture the dynamic exchange of this connection.
I am interested in exploring the mystery of the home, what happens there? How do the little things we do daily change who we are within? How do we activate our energy? A video plays on a small LCD screen inside of this pegboard box. It shows segments of the same footage projected in large-scale format in the installation.
