Elder Wounds

Elder Wounds

Dedicated to the women who've faced sexual violence or other encroachments, this community bodycasting piece is a witness to past transgressions and a beacon of hope. It represents the journey from silence to empowerment, from shame to strength.

Elder Wounds: Blue

Witness to past transgressions

This art piece honors the women who've endured sexual violence. Assault, spousal mistreatment - the stress and pain have shaped their actions, impacting their children and how they relate to them and the world. Surprisingly, some support Trump, who embodies control over women and sexual misconduct.

I empathize with all mistreated people. Many lacked support and were taught to suffer silently. Family secrets led to shame and isolation. Some elders, repressing memories, vote against their conscience, fearing judgment. Sexual assault is never the victim's fault. Yet shame often outweighs self-advocacy. The Me Too movement empowered women.

I send love to those still trapped in fear and shame, disconnected from others. Women deserve respect and bodily autonomy. Why does religion often judge morality instead of supporting humanity?
